Lima,Luiz Henrique da Silva; Braccini,Alessandro Lucca; Scapim,Carlos Alberto; Piccinin,Gleberson Guillen; Ponce,Raissa Marrafon.
ABSTRACT Canola is an important crop in the world market, mainly for its oil being used for human consumption and biodiesel production, being a great economical option for the farmer, which are the reasons to the increase in its cultivation in Brazil. This study aimed to evaluate the adaptability and stability of canola hybrids, depending on the sowing dates. The canola hybrids (Hyola 61, Hyola 76, Hyola 411 and Hyola 433) were evaluated in three sowing dates (04/10, 04/25 and 05/10) in the agricultural years of 2013 and 2014, under a randomized complete block design with five replications. The response variables analyzed were seed yield and oil content. Adaptability and stability of the hybrids were evaluated by three methods: Wricke's ecovalence (1962);...

Adaptation and Genotype x Environment Interaction of Flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) Genotypes in South Central Chile Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Berti,Marisol; Fischer,Susana; Wilckens,Rosemarie; Hevia,Felicitas; Johnson,Burton.
Flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) is imported into Chile mostly for bread making and feed. Identification of genotypes best adapted for seed production in South Central Chile would facilitate producer’s decision. The objective of this study was to determine the adaptation and genotype x environment interaction of 16 flaxseed genotypes (including 10 from North American and six from Argentine sources) grown at 11 environments (defined as location-year) in Chile from 2003 to 2007. Genotype seed yield was above 5700 kg ha-1 for some environments indicating a high yield potential. According to the AMMI (Additive Main Effects and Multiplicative Interaction) and SREG (Sites regression) models the 11 environments were classified into four groups by the AMMI and...

Agronomic performance of canola submitted to desiccation with herbicides at different maturation stages AGRIAMBI
Rosa,Willian B.; Duarte Júnior,José B.; Perego,Ivonei; Almeida,Bruno H. de; Costa,Antonio C. T. da; Tomm,Gilberto O..
ABSTRACT Uneven maturation in canola is an important challenge for its management in regions subject to frost and high rainfall at the end of the cycle. In order to identify practices to maximize grain yield under these growing conditions, this work evaluated the effects of desiccation with herbicides at different phenological stages on Hyola 433, one of the most commonly used hybrids in Brazil. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with four repetitions in a 6 x 4 factorial scheme, with five herbicides: paraquat, diquat and ammonium glufosinate at dose of 400 g a.i. ha-1, glyphosate at 1,440 g a.i. ha-1 and saflufenacil at 70 g a.i. ha-1, plus the control, at four phenological stages of silique maturation (G2, G3, G4 and G5)....

CLASSIFICATION OF MACAW PALM FRUITS FROM COLORIMETRIC PROPERTIES FOR DETERMINING THE HARVEST MOMENT REA
Costa,Anderson G.; Pinto,Francisco de A. de C.; Motoike,Sérgio Y.; Braga Júnior,Roberto A.; Gracia,Luis M. Navas.
ABSTRACT Macaw palm (Acrocomia aculeata) is a promising crop for biofuel production due to the high concentration of its fruit oil, but the harvest date is an issue to be better understood so it could be cultivated on an industrial scale. The aim of this study was to use the colorimetric properties of the macaw palm fruits to develop a neural network classifier to determine the ideal moment for harvesting, based on the oil content of the fruit mesocarp. During nine weeks of maturation were sampled 900 fruits of macaw palm fruits and the colorimetric properties of the RGB, HSI and CIELab color models were used to classify the fruits into immature and mature fruits. Kappa index and the overall accuracy values were used to access the classifier performance....

OIL CONTENT OF GREEN BEANS FROM SOME COFFEE SPECIES Bragantia
MAZZAFERA,PAULO; SOAVE,DAYSE; ZULLO,MARCO ANTONIO TEIXEIRA; GUERREIRO FILHO,OLIVEIRO.
The oil content was determined in seeds of several continental African species of the coffee germplasm bank of Instituto Agronômico de Campinas, State of São Paulo, Brazil. Oil was extracted from seeds with hexane in Soxhlet apparatus. Due to the economic importance, C. arabica and C. canephora have been the best studied species concerning oil content and composition, and the results obtained are in agreement with the reported in the literature. On the other hand, only one report in the literature describes the results of oil analyses in other few species of the African continent, although it does not allow comparison with our results. The oil content of most of the species varied from 9 to 15%, therefore, similar to the range observed for C. arabica and...
